Pie Chart Of What My Audience Thought Of Each Photo That I Had Edited

I asked a range of different people that were in my target market of people that would buy the magazine I am making to see what photo they liked the most and why. To my surprise they picked photo 1 as the one for the cover photo.
They chose photo 1 because they thought out off all 5 photos this one suited the magazine the best and was most eye catching to the age of audience this magazine wanted to aim for.

Photo Ideas and Edits For Music Magazine Front Cover Light Green Background with Purple Hair) Photo 1

The Original Photo and The Edited Copy:

This photo was edited on photoshop and I edited it by changing the light so it was really bright, this was because I felt that in the original it was very dark so making it brighter made it stand out more against the other magazine that I will be against.
What I really like about this photo is how all the colours work together and really make a contrast through the photo also how the light green background makes her stand out. I also really like the way the colours blend and work through her hair, from black to purples, red and oranges.
Even though I do really like this photo I do feel that her face is not really in focus and the audients may not recognising her as a new artist which means they wanting to read about her. However it could work in the other way that because they don't know who she is this could make them want to read about her.
I am not sure I would use this as my cover star photo because of that fact you cant see her face and that I feel would not sell the magazine in the best way.

Photo Ideas and Edits For Music Magazine Front Cover (Blue Background with Emma Yellow) Photo 2

The Original Photo and The Edited Copy:

Just like my other photos I edited this image in photoshop, this is because it gave me so much option for what I wanted to do and I could do it and so much more on photoshop. I started by flipping the photography to the right so it gave me more option when doing my front cover on where I could put my masthead so it didn't cover any of her, especially Emma's hair.
I started out by editing the contrast and lighting and when I got the colours I wanted I decided they were something I wanted to change so it was more eye catching and would get the audience attention. I picked to change the colours to yellow and blue because they seem to me like two contrasting colours and really play off each other. I really like how where both the colours have mixed they have brought green into the photo for example on her hair and round parts of her body.
I feel this photo could be used as the front cover as it is eye catching and would get the market I am wanting to sell my magazine to looking and they would really like this photo, also I feel it goes well with the type of music that the magazine is going for.

Photo Ideas and Edits For Music Magazine Front Cover (Pink and Red) Photo 3

The Original Photo and The Edited Copy:

I edited this image on Photoshop just like my other photos, this is because I felt that it gave me so much more option for what I wanted to do, and also I was learning new things, which was really interesting and helpful to me. When editing this image I flipped it to the other side and started to change the colouring on it, I decided to make it pink and red because looking at the photo she seems that she could be angry and I felt that red it a real angry colour. However I didn't want to make the photo red, adding bring pink into it really balanced the red without making it really strong and harsh.
The circles round the back of the image were created by playing around with the different contrasts, but when looking at the photo the circles really made her stand out against the background and made it look like there was something pulling her backwards like she was being pulled into a dark black whole. I really like how the rings going round the back of her and how they are done like a rainbow going round. Having her so bright in the pinks and red really made Emma stand out against the dark background. The vibrant colour through her hair really makes it more of a statement than it already was, because of all these points this photo is one I would really think about using as my magazine cover because it is eye catching and would get people looking at her and wondering who she is, which would make them buy the magazine to find out more about her. This image could really sell the magazine.

Photo Ideas and Edits For Music Magazine Front Cover (Purple and Green) Photo 4

The Original Photo and The Edited Copy:

This image I edited on photoshop because it gave me so much option for what I could do. I change the colouring on this photo and also made the background start lighter in the middle and get darker as it went out to the corner. I did this by just increasing the light going onto the photo and also playing around with the contrast and colours.
What I like about this photo is how her hair stands out so much against the rest of the colours in the image but also how the purple and the green really make a contrast against each other and I feel this set the photo off even more making it really eye catching.
However I feel having her all in green you cant really see who she is and just like the black and white one this loses the fact people don't know her and need to see her to know who she is. So because of this fact I will probably not use it as my image for my front cover. I feel the audience need to really see her to know who she it.

Photo Ideas and Edits For Music Magazine Front Cover (Black and White) Photo 5

The Original Photo and The Edited Copy:
For this photo I changed the colouring so it was in black and white but also made it a lot brighter by increasing the light going on the photo as well with making the contrast a lot stronger. I also flipped the image from the left side to the right side this was because when starting to design my magazine front cover her hair was getting covered by the masthead and if I had put the masthead on the right side instead of the left side it would of not followed any of my research of magazines I had done.
What I don't like about this edit is how the brightness is so strong that you cant really see her face, and since she is a new and up coming artist in my magazine you need to be able to see her face or people will not know who she is. However I do really like her hair and how it has the contrast between the black and white, also how at her roots it a very definitive black but as it goes out it goes to white.
I will probably not use this photo in my magazine because of the fact you cant see her face, if she was not a up and coming artist and people know who she was then yes maybe you could use this image but for a new artist it doesn't show her as much as it needs too.
I have learnt from doing this to make sure that the brightness is not to high so you can see more of the image.

Pie Chart Of Names For My Music Magazine

When I was designing my magazine I didn't know what I was wanting to call it, so I got loads of names then went round my target audience to see what they thought. These are the names that were most popular especially Turned Up which because of this I have decided to called my Magazine.
