NME Magazine Front Cover

NME Magazine Front Cover

The Title:
NME title is very clear at the top left hand corner and also another clear title is No
ël Satisfaction. This title is not a big as the masthead but however it is very prominent. Both titles have been done to catch peoples eyes, they have done this by putting them in clear bold white writing, which is one of the main colours in NME house style. NME have also put all the writing down the left hand side, which draws your eye down that side of the page.
Doing this makes it very clear for the reader to know exactly what this edition of NME includes.

Mis-en-Scene:
The cover star is Keith Richards who was a member of the Rolling Stones in the 1960’s. Having Keith Richards as the cover star shows diversity in ages and people who read this magazine. The make up that has been used is not obvious at all it just been used to inhands little features on his face for example, his jaw. However lighting plays a large part in this as well, it .is going onto his forehead and also down his nose but this jaw and top part of his neck have been put into shadow making them more prominent. In contrast to the dark shadows on this neck he also is wearing sunglasses, which give him more of an edgier look and makes him look more ‘gangster.’ I feel it is more of this look because of him wearing sunglasses you cannot see his eyes, which some people could find quite intimidating.
His blue shirt real stands out against the black background and also how it clashes with the red writing. Doing this make his clothes stand out on the cover and not just him.
This photo was most likely to be taken in a studio because then they could get the perfect image that they want.

People:
The target market for this magazine is 16-19 years old plus of both genders, I believe this because they are the age of most people that want to go to gigs and plus want to know the newest music out there right know. However I do feel that older people will read this magazine as well because of the type of music they include. Plus having Keith Richards as the cover star backs this theory up as he is amid for older people and also maybe young adults.
When doing my own magazine I will amid to go for the audients of 16-19 years old as well but unlike NME I will have a cover star that relates to my readers more.

Written Content:
The content on the front cover is just little short sentences that give clues about what is in the magazine for example, it said about interviews then list all the interviews they are doing and the people they are doing them with.
On my front cover when doing my own magazine, I will defiantly do something along these lines because it looks really good and also shows the readers exactly what they want to read about.

Music Genre:
From the front cover you get the impression that NME is amid more towards rock and edgy music. This is because they have an old rockstar and also the interviews they have done tend to be with rock influents artist.

Layout:
The layout of this cover page has Keith Richards as the main cover star then writing and text going mainly down the left hand side. Having it like this makes it very clear for the reader to know what they are looking for.
The house style is very clear it is, red and white, this theme goes through NME magazine. I feel that using the colour red is very appropriate for this genre of music magazine. This is because I feel red is quite a rocky and edgy colour just like the music that NME include in there magazine.
